Wondering what to wear this summer?

English summers are never reliable and with the news that this year there may be up to fifty days of rain, it’s easy to see why the classically ugly welly boot may be trending.

Think more Kate Moss than farmer - style them with denim hot pants and boho accessories. You will be able to enjoy the UK’s festivals without worrying about ruining your new trainers.

Another late noughties pattern has seen a resurgence as of late with florals quietly sliding back into the mainstream. They’ve been everywhere from catwalks to the plastic flower hair clips we’ve all seen being furiously pushed on TikTok shop.

Gingham is another print to look out for if you’re searching for some cottage core to infuse in your wardrobe during the sunnier months. However, make sure you pair it with some harsher fabrics and maximalist jewellery to avoid looking too ‘little red riding hood’.

Finally - fancy some plastic shells as a bracelet? You may sneer in disgust but kitsch jewellery is back. Haunted by the owl necklaces from Accessorize in 2010? Shell jewellery is for Gen Z what moustaches were for millennials and they can make any outfit less serious and infinitely more summery.

Remass launches 'basics'

Vintage clothing reseller Remass has launched a new basics range with a chartreuse colour palette.

The brand says its basics have "comfort in mind" and is made from "sustainable materials".

Sustainability is often hard to find when it comes to plain wardrobe staples with consumers often forced to buy from fast fashion retailers if they want simple clothing items.

Following a Skims style design pattern the collection consists of a long sleeve, mini skirt, cami and low waisted trousers in chartreuse.

‘The Belle’ - a v neck top with ribbon detailing - is also included in black or white.

Remass, owned by Danielle Mass, is the world’s top selling Depop account and the company has branched out by creating its own ‘originals’ which have seen great success.

Bayonetta Glasses

Bayonetta glasses have been trending since early last year - but how did the trend actually start?

Popularised by celebrities such as Gabriette and Bella Hadid, the small frame glasses named after a video game character are now everywhere as people emulate the office siren aesthetic.

The style became popular in 2006 after Gisele Bundchen was seen wearing them in the classic film ‘A Devil Wears Prada’ where she was cast in the role of a runway employee.

Celebs including Kate Moss, Angelina Jolie and Megan Fox were also spotted with the eyewear in the late noughties.

Bayonetta is a video game character who uses weapons and her hair to fight off enemies. Cunty? Yes.

Brands such as Miu Miu and Prada are the go to if you’re searching for vintage glasses with the style starting at £30 on Vinted if you know where to look.

As a recession and cost of living crisis has hit, styles have become more modest as most high end luxury fashion brands moved away from the dazzling monogram and logomania aesthetics of the past.

Perhaps bayonetta glasses and the ‘library chic’ aesthetic is a way of showing the world that women mean business in this poor economic climate.
